Stephanie focuses on providing a welcoming, fun, and effective training environment for all of her students, both humans and canines. She trains using a scientifically-based approach proven to change behavior and is committed to the use of positive reinforcement methods, with a focus on the relationship between dog and handler. She has over 15 years of animal instruction experience; initially teaching, training, and coaching horses and riders before shifting her focus to dogs. Stephanie has been a dog trainer since 2009, expanding her education and teaching classes at The Coventry School for Dogs and Their People in Columbia, MD.
Stephanie is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed® (CPDT-KA), a Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI™), a Connection, Cooperation & Control Certified Instructor (CCC-CI™), and a Certified CARAT Assessor (CCA). She is a member of the National Association of Canine Scent Work® (NACSW). Stephanie values ongoing education and regularly attends seminars, conferences, and workshops given by leaders in the fields of animal training, operant and classical conditioning, and positive reinforcement techniques.
Stephanie currently shares her life with her husband and their dogs, Kyber and Inara. She competes with her dogs in K9 Nose Work® and has trained in multiple dog sports, including rally obedience and agility. In addition to teaching classes and training with her own dogs, Stephanie has volunteered as an instructor for Canine Companions for Independence, an assistance dog organization.
